- "Unsinkable USM Breaks Surface", by Chris Lanier. United Student Movement in oppisition to Principal Dr. Scott Thompson. School board member Agnes Robinson speaks to the meeting, and privately to the Catamount.
- "Cub Students Give for Christmas", by Carman Gayters. The Committee for Concerned Students, president Marvin Walker, to raise funds for underprivileged kids.
- "Thanta flipths over Frithz", (Santa Flips over Fritz). Announcing the Fritz Rabyne Memorial Band to play for the Christmas dance. Admission $3.50 with a student body card, $5 without. (This was the dance where vocalist Stevie Nicks sang at Cubberley)
- "The Games People Play..." Photo of Ron Jones by Charles Scott. Social Studies Teacher Ron Jones (of "Third Wave" or the TV movie "The Wave" fame) announces he is "a regional head of the Student's Democratic Society (sic)", and that he is in the National Guard. Caption on photo reads "Mr. Ron Jones, pictured in the social studies office, can rarely be found here because of his active part in SDS, classroom experiments, and school activities."
